Contractor License Requirement

PRHA's Housing Choice Voucher Program is comprised of more than 350 rental property owners (landlords) who participate in our Tenant Based Rental Assistance program. We estimate approximately 4.4 million dollars each year is paid out to these landlords for rent subsidy. Currently there are 737 families receiving Section 8 (Housing Choice Vouchers) housing assistance.

Rental property owners participating in our Section 8 program have the same rights and responsibilities as any landlord. They can screen and select tenants, use their own lease, or have the option of collecting a security deposit before a tenat move in, collect rent from the tenant, maintain their property and perform lease enforcement. It is required by PRHA that a copy of all notices sent to tenants be sent to Agency.

Landlords can visit our office to list vacant units for referral to tenants with vouchers. However, listing a unit with our Agency is not a commitment to rent the unit to a tenant with housing assistance. To list a unit, please visit our office located at 128 S.
